iTunes U: Only some of class sees assignments

Yesterday I posted an assignment that only some of the students enrolled in my course can see. Those who can't see the assignment said that it popped up on their screen as a notification, but when they logged in there was nothing. This happened in two separate courses. I'm stumped.
